Kudakalliya is set amidst a 3 1/2 acre property with the Indian Ocean in front and a tributary of the Hada Oya (river) running along the back of the property.
Three thoughtfully designed beach houses have been built with utmost care, to optimise the views and maintain absolute privacy so that three separate groups can occupy the three houses. Each house is designed to accommodate a group or family as a single user.
We draw water from our well, and we use solar panels to supplement the electricity from the mains to reduce our footprint.
We have canoeing for guided tours in the Hada Oya.
An Observation Deck has been built to get a vantage point to watch visiting elephants (seasonal).
We can organise wildlife & historical tours (see Activities)
This house on the edge of the river is the epitome of serenity. The dining area is on the ground floor and the verandah literally ends by the bank of the river. The mangrove island is directly across the water... you can enjoy your meal whilst watching elephants bathe in the river! (seasonally).
This house has been built ideally as a family cabana, with a room on each floor with en-suite bathrooms. It is also ideal for that romantic getaway! The view from the open-air showers cannot be beaten...
The upper floor bedroom opens up to a very large balcony with spectacular views of the flowing river, estuary, turquoise sea and lime green paddy fields...wake up in the morning to the calls of numerous birds in the mangrove islands and end your day looking at a starry sky with the sounds of crickets and waves lulling you to sleep.
If you enjoy sunsets, this is the best lodge for you.
This two story beach abode commands fabulous views of the Indian Ocean, and the estuary with scrub jungle and rock outcrops as its backdrop. Our mantra is comfort in nature, with priority given to protecting our natural surrounds. The house is built in an eco friendly manner as possible. We have two rooms on the upper floor.
One with two double beds and attached bathroom. The second bedroom has a double bed, as well as a balcony area with two double beds and attached bathroom.
The main house has a large balcony that’s perfect to sun bathe in absolute privacy during the day,
and enjoy that chilled wine and star gaze at night...
We also have a 60 foot (18 metre) watch tower (which houses our water tank) from which you can watch a picture perfect sunrise & sunset whilst enjoying that sundowner. This is also an ideal location to watch elephants (seasonally), frolicking in the river beyond and feeding on the mangrove island.
If you enjoy sunrises, this is the best lodge for you.
Ideal for a group of friends, a large family or a group of surfers, Elephant Point was named after the wild elephants that grace our nearby river and surrounding lands. Elephant Point has amazing ocean front views, along with lush mangroves at the rear end of the property.
The beach house accommodates 8 people. It comprises one double room and an open concept dorm styled, cement platform which sleeps six in single beds (can be made into double), two bathrooms complete with toilet and shower and one separate open air shower behind the beach house for a truly tropical beachside experience.
The beach house also has a fully fitted kitchenette, allowing the flexibility of self-catering. Elephant point enjoys the same facilities of our other beach houses, which includes an outdoor ideal for sundowners.
